Dio Remembered by Avenged Sevenfold
”Rest in peace, Ronnie James Dio… one of the greatest of all time. Looks like Dime, Randy, Cliff, and Bonzo just scored the ultimate singer. This is one of the saddest days in metal ever.”
These were the words expressed by Avenged Sevenfold’s drummer, Mike Portnoy, who, like so many in the heavy metal world, was shocked to hear the news of Ronnie James Dios’s death.
Dio passed away on May 16th after losing his battle to stomach cancer. The 67 year old singer of many metal bands, including Rainbow, Black Sabbath and most recently Heaven and Hell, was scheduled to tour this summer. Memorial & funeral arrangements are pending.
Avenged Sevenfold is getting set to tour with Disturbed on the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival this August. If you get Avenged Sevenfold tickets, there’s a good bet a live Dio tribute could be in your future!
